| Children, today, are playing sports at much earlier ages and at a higher competitive level than the school yard pickup games we played as kids. In many instances, lay people (ie parents), are training and coaching team players using the same warm ups they remember using years ago. We have come a long way in understanding the complexities of our muscular system both for the male and the female. With proper strengthening of the base or “core” muscle groups, we can avoid some injuries. Also, proper stretching is critical—most athletes, especially the youth (think they are made of rubber and are, therefore, indestructible), don’t understand the importance of a good warm up. Although, when you watch these talented young people play, it may seem like they are indeed, indestructible, they are in fact, experiencing higher levels of injury. Some quite serious. The Advantage Wellness and Fitness program, designed to develop and strengthen the core muscles, will make any athlete stronger, more agile and, most importantly, less vulnerable to injury during play. What a benefit to any athlete, young or old! To play your chosen sport without the worry of sustaining those all too common injuries. This is an eight week program. Hour long appointments are made each week for the next eight weeks. During the first appointment, a full assessment of the strength and health of your muskulo skeleton system will be evaluated by a licensed Physical Therapist. From this, a custom fitness plan is developed specifically tailored to your personal strengths and weaknesses. You will be coached on a one-to-one basis with our trained staff as you follow the program developed specifically for you. Your progress will be closely monitored and your program updated as you become stronger and more flexible. At the end of the eight weeks you may continue on your own (we will supply you with a plan) or you may continue coming to the clinic.
